I really appreciate how you encourage mindfulness when it comes to our dogs’ behavior. This piece is a great reminder that small changes can matter—thank you for the insight!
Thanks for also including the reasons why. I've heard so many people of late call their pet "naughty." Uncharacteristic behavior is also why many people surrender or abandon a pet. Either they can't afford or won't afford the exam and care.
Great advice. I know my dogs extremley well. As they get older I know there will be some changes, but I still err on the side of caution. I found a lump on my Poms side - I know fatty deposits happen, cysts etc. Nothing else at all changed with him, but I took him to the vet anyway, if only to have it documented and monitored.
More recently I figured out I need to soak his kibble for a minute or two before he can eat it, due to his teeth falling out, it's apparently a Pom thing. He told me by trying to eat, coming to sit by me (he never leaves his food) then trying to eat again, then coming back to sit by me again. Now I soak it for 2 minutes, and he's back to his usual eating frenzy.
What a GREAT article! Thank you
Thanks Nan!
What a gorgeous face
